The Rotary Furniture Banks is a small scale, all volunteer organization aimed at helping people located in Halton and surrounding cities. The following FAQs will hopefully answer questions about how we operate and what we aim to do. 
 
 
What is Rotary?

Why does Rotary operate the Rotary Furniture Bank?
A key objective of Rotary is to build stronger communities. The Rotary Furniture Bank is one way of creating change in our community by supporting vulnerable people in our community so they can live in dignity and comfort.  It also helps us protect the environment by diverting furniture from the landfill.
 
What type of furniture will you accept?
We accept furniture that is suitable for small apartments, that is in very good condition and has neutral colours and patterns. We also accept wall art work, complete sets of dishes or glassware, microwaves, and cookware in excellent condition.
 
Are there furniture items you do not accept?
We do NOT accept sofa beds, and furniture with glass such as dining room cabinets, or curio cabinets. We do not accept stained mattresses or box springs. 
 
How can I arrange to have my furniture donation picked up?

Can I deliver my furniture to you?
No.  Please complete the furniture donation form located here to arrange a pick up of your items.
 
Who gets the furniture that’s donated to the Rotary Furniture Bank?
Donated furniture is given free-of-charge to vulnerable individuals and families referred to us by social service agencies who deem the clients  to be in need.
 
Can I get a tax receipt for my furniture donation?
We do not issue tax receipts for donated furniture. 
 
Can I make a financial donation to the Rotary Burlington North Furniture Bank?
Yes, the Rotary Furniture Bank is an initiative of the Rotary Burlington North Foundation which is a registered charity.  Financial donations are welcomed and appreciated.  Tax receipts are issued for donations $20 and over.  Click here to make a financial donation.
 
How can I obtain furniture from the Rotary Furniture Bank?
You must be referred by a social service agency to receive furniture from the Rotary Furniture Bank.  You cannot access the Rotary Furniture Bank by contacting us directly.
 
How do social service agencies submit a request to receive donated furniture for a client?
Please review the process outlined here and then complete a Furniture Request Form. 
 
How do you ensure the furniture you offer is safe and clean?
We do our best to ensure the furniture we offer is safe and clean, however, we can not guarantee that.  We inspect the furniture before we accept it and we decline furniture that does not meet our standards.  We also keep our storage units clean, and all mattresses and box springs are bagged.
